The title of this post is misleading. My bathmat wasn’t stolen. I’m certain of that. It disappeared during the night, and if anyone had gotten into the (studio) apartment, I would have heard him or her. Although I don’t recall anything other than getting up once in the middle of the night to use the facilities and then returning to bed, I know that at some point I was sleepwalking. That was how the bathmat disappeared, and damned if I can find it now. I may have stepped into the hallway and dropped it down the trash chute during the … Continue reading The Case of the Purloined Bathmat
Just a few minutes ago, I found this BuzzFeed video on Facebook. If you haven’t done at least half of the things depicted in the video, you’re not a true reader. Turn in your membership card at the local indie bookstore. Keep reading, though. Your skills might improve. Continue reading Book Lovers will Get It.
In case you haven’t heard yet, last night’s Broadway performance of Hamilton was even more interesting than usual. A few Twitter screenshots are included in this post along with a link to a short video of Brandon Victor Dixon reading a history-making announcement. The video was posted on the New York Times site. We all must speak out, responsibly. We must be in control of our emotions, and articulate our thoughts on an adult level. If we have questions about whether a particular statement is unwise or open to misinterpretation, we should consult others before speaking or posting. A word on the Twitter … Continue reading Courage On The Stage, And On Social Media
When you’re getting ready for bed tonight, be sure to fall back one hour. By resetting your clocks, that is. Continue reading Reset Clocks This Weekend
I’ve been told this oddity is due to using the slo-mo setting on the new phone while recording video. The subject is the fountain at Opera Plaza in San Francisco. It’s an accident caused by inexperience, or so everyone says. Right. Everyone. I’ve shown the video to two people. They both say I was the one who screwed up. If I ever catch the imp who messed with that fountain while I was recording… Continue reading It’s All A Conspiracy!
This morning I decided to take a look at the YouTube account and replace one slideshow which wasn’t playing well on the screen. It was just a matter of replacing the light pink background with something compatible with white text. Darned if I could figure out how to change the color of the text on my laptop, though. The tools didn’t appear to be there. After ten months, very few people are showing an interest in the blog. Advertising has been helpful, but not helpful enough. Here it is. Love it, hate it, or feel indifferent. The running time is … Continue reading Pathetic Self-Promotion, But The Color Is Pretty
I like to post every day, but need rest sometimes. Here’s Queen’s Official Video of Under Pressure. No subtle messages about my own physical/mental state. It’s just a fine video with news footage and other pieces of history. David Bowie contributed to vocals. Read whatever you want into the music or lyrics, or their relationship with the visual part. The members of Queen have refused to explain their work, and they’re right to refuse. Continue reading Another Shortcut Today
When the Republican National Convention lackeys used a recording by Queen without authorization, I threw a fit. Then I began thinking about popular music I hadn’t heard in a while. My mood has improved greatly. Continue reading Attitude
Here’s the latest YouTube video promoting a Twitter account that interests no one. Oh, I shouldn’t say no one. Last time I looked, there were more than 70 followers. That’s a bit depressing for a writer, though. Continue reading 140 Characters Or, Uh, Fewer
