Last night, I did it. I downloaded the TikTok app and opened an account. Did I mention that I’m sixty? That’s kind of old for uploading short videos that play in a loop, but it can be done. It’s unlikely I’ll ever star in my own videos. My video efforts work better with stuffed animals who have finely cultured personalities. You know, the stuffies I live with. The app allowed me to upload two existing videos last night, and apparently some people saw them. A separate app on my phone allowed the stuffies’ lips to move in sync with voices … Continue reading Adulting on TikTok

I’m posting this on the weekend, so most of you should be able to watch the accompanying video. Be discreet, though. If you enjoy it, take a look at some of the other material uploaded to YouTube with the username ExplosiveIndustries. It’s Dave Hill’s account, and he has worked with some of the best: Dick Cavett, David Rakoff and a couple of Chihuahuas. If you’re really, really impressed, try listening to Dave’s radio talk show. It’s on Monday nights at 9 p.m. Eastern Time on WFMU in Jersey City, NJ. The station has an online stream at wfmu.org. Continue reading Not Suitable For Work (NSFW)
If you’re planning a trip outside of your own country this summer, you should be informed on how electricity is delivered in the country you’re visiting. Power outlets in the U.S. operate on Alternating Current (A.C.), but that isn’t universal. In many other countries Americans will need an adapter, and if you look online you’ll find some disagreement on whether a particular adapter works in more than one European country. Make every effort to have all of your questions answered before your departure. If the hotel supplies a hair dryer, that shouldn’t be an issue. However, you’ll need to know … Continue reading When in Rome…

Just a few minutes ago, I found this BuzzFeed video on Facebook. If you haven’t done at least half of the things depicted in the video, you’re not a true reader. Turn in your membership card at the local indie bookstore. Keep reading, though. Your skills might improve. Continue reading Book Lovers will Get It.
In case you haven’t heard yet, last night’s Broadway performance of Hamilton was even more interesting than usual. A few Twitter screenshots are included in this post along with a link to a short video of Brandon Victor Dixon reading a history-making announcement. The video was posted on the New York Times site. We all must speak out, responsibly. We must be in control of our emotions, and articulate our thoughts on an adult level. If we have questions about whether a particular statement is unwise or open to misinterpretation, we should consult others before speaking or posting. A word on the Twitter … Continue reading Courage On The Stage, And On Social Media
I’ve been told this oddity is due to using the slo-mo setting on the new phone while recording video. The subject is the fountain at Opera Plaza in San Francisco. It’s an accident caused by inexperience, or so everyone says. Right. Everyone. I’ve shown the video to two people. They both say I was the one who screwed up. If I ever catch the imp who messed with that fountain while I was recording… Continue reading It’s All A Conspiracy!
