Good Moral Character is Complicated

GOOD PEOPLE CARE TO OFFER SOMETHING TO OTHERS, AND IF THEY’VE ENGAGED IN INTROSPECTION THEY DON’T ACT ON ULTERIOR MOTIVES.  THEIR ACTIONS DON’T HAVE TO BE 24/7 ALTRUISM, AND IF THEY HAVE A SENSE OF BALANCE THEY’LL PROBABLY RULE OUT THE 24/7 STUFF. BAD PEOPLE KEEP TAKING, AND WHEN THE TROUGH IS EMPTY THEY CALL THEMSELVES VICTIMS. IF THEY’RE GOOD MANIPULATORS, THEY’LL CONVINCE OTHERS THEY’VE BEEN GIVING THE WHOLE TIME. Bart’s Comics, John Philbrook
