Jared Kushner’s Conflict

You may have heard about a controversy earlier this year at the New York Observer.  Publisher Jared Kushner wrote an opinion piece supporting the candidacy of his father-in-law, Donald Trump, and included an account of how the Holocaust had affected his own family. At least one writer on the Observer’s staff published a rebuttal, and Mr. Kushner received wide criticism from the public in general for recalling his family’s Holocaust tragedy in that context. A Depressing Family Mess

Disclosure:  This post appears in slightly different form on a private social media page. A link to a statement from Donald Trump’s son-in-law — and publisher of the N.Y. Observer — appears below.  He’s in an awkward position, but the statement is an apparent “family loyalty” piece — at the expense of his grandparents. Using the Nazi Holocaust in this context should damage an adult’s reputation. Jared Kushner isn’t some high school kid who opens his mouth without knowing what he’s saying.
