Brett Kavanaugh or Amy Coney Barrett Might Become Our Next Supreme Court Justice

In case you’re unfamiliar with the names in the bold print above this post, please click the links below.  Either one of these people might replace retiring moderate swing-vote Justice Anthony Kennedy on the Supreme Court.

Amy Coney Barrett and Brett Kavanaugh are very far to the right in their legal views, and Judge Barrett belongs to a conservative religious organization, People of Praise, which exercises authority over members’ personal choices.

It was never determined whether U.S. Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia was a member of a group called Opus Dei, or Work of God.  His legal opinions were in line with Opus Dei’s values, though.

The New York Times article about Judge Barrett was posted in September of last year, before she was confirmed for the U.S. Court of Appeals.  The Los Angeles Times story about Judge Barrett and Judge Kavanaugh was posted two days ago.
