George Michael’s Late 1990s Classic Cover

Some pieces of art that should become legendary are forgotten.

When George Michael and producer Phil Ramone got together to create an album of standards in the late 1990s, they were probably aware that the end result would not be a commercial success.

Although Songs From the Last Century isn’t in the same league with the later Michael-Ramone collaboration Symphonica, it’s worthy of more attention than it receives.  Below is a link to a YouTube audio-only upload of Mr. Michael’s cover of Secret Love.

Secret Love was first recorded by Doris Day, for the 1953 movie Calamity Jane.  Sammy Fain composed the instrumental music, and the lyrics were written by Paul Francis Webster.
