INSIDE EVERY CYNICAL PERSON, THERE IS A DISAPPOINTED IDEALIST. — GEORGE CARLIN Continue reading George Carlin Quotation
Please assure me this won’t happen two nights in a row. Last night I had the unlikely combination of hiccups and a sneezing fit while trying to fall asleep. That won’t happen tonight, will it? Wait. Aw, shit. Continue reading What are the Odds?
Predictably, the poor will suffer the worst under Donald Trump’s planned budget cuts. National austerity policies do further damage to strained economies, but the only wealthy people who can see that are individuals who have personally learned how to survive outside the Privilege Bubble. Okay, Donald Trump is more bizarre than most rich people, but you get the idea. Sometimes the Republican types who make me angriest are working people who are having trouble getting by. They haven’t reached the point of applying for food stamps or Medicaid, so they brag that they bust their respective asses to make ends … Continue reading It’s Easy to Take From Others When You are Incapable of Empathy
Note: I am not a mental health professional. My knowledge of this topic is from personal experience and books for the general reader. I’ve suffered sporadic anorexic episodes since I was a child. I’m fifty-seven now, and happily, I can say the last two relapses were years apart. The most recent was in 2015, though, and I don’t know whether the monster will be back anytime in the future. I become ill easily when I stop eating, and I can’t stand being ill. So, the anorexic stuff has never reached the point where I’ve been admitted to a hospital with … Continue reading Treating Eating Disorders Early
Please click the link below to read an honest, level-headed article by someone who knows how these things happen. Many of us agree that men must speak up and make it clear that sexual harassment and assault are unacceptable, and that they want nothing to do with men who commit those offenses. That’s just my own suggestion. https://www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/feb/11/metoo-school-children-teens-sexual-harassment Continue reading Excellent Piece by Nancy Jo Sales on Sexual Harassment of Children by Peers
Here’s a video posted by Helen Mcgoldrick on the Facebook group Kent Bikers. Kent Bikers is defined as a public group, for bikes and bikers only. I hope it was alright for me to copy-and-paste this video to share it. Continue reading Motorcycles With Trombones. What Could be More Simple — and Vital?

This morning I went through an annoying formality which I hope most of you would also be willing to tolerate. A $45.00 item which I bought online has shipped, but the charge for it has disappeared from my bank record. Initially, the charge was visible when I made a checking inquiry, and I thought everything was fine. However, after I went through something complicated with a different order placed with the same retailer, the charge disappeared. I thought I’d get it cleared up this morning, by using the shopping site’s Customer Service chat feature. The person I communicated with was … Continue reading Being Honest is Worth the Trouble, but it’s Still Trouble
I found this on Twitter just a minute ago. No word on the youngster’s name, but here’s a gif. The Kansas City Zoo’s watermark is on the video. Please note that an adult giraffe is unsuccessfully trying to photobomb. Baby Giraffes are so under appreciated. pic.twitter.com/LRBwrAXsDd — Nature is Amazing 🌿 (@AMAZlNGNATURE) February 8, 2018 Continue reading Baby Giraffe Alert!
