People who ignore international news may assume the progress made by the LGBT movement in the West is more far-reaching than it really is.
All human rights victories have potential for expanding, though. When some countries agree that a segment of society must be respected as individuals, there’s pressure for others to use similar common sense.

Zanzibar is an island located in the Indian Ocean, technically on the African Continent. It is considered a semi-autonomous part of Tanzania.
Here’s a coincidence worth sharing, although it isn’t relevant to the current crisis: Freddie Mercury was born on Zanzibar in 1946. The island was a British Protectorate then, and had that status until late 1963.
