Dogs And Books

Have any of you been to Strand Book Store in NYC?  I shopped there for postcards and a tote bag in 2012, and more recently I’ve ordered a few books and other things online.

For some small dog breeds, a book bag is an efficient form of transportation.  The unidentified Maltese in a recent Strand Book Store Twitter post (scroll down this page to find a screenshot) is wearing a rain slicker, obviously prepared for wet weather.  By the way, the book bag listings on Strand’s website recommend surface washing, not laundering.  But rain?

The dog is posing on the subway platform at the Bedford Avenue station in Brooklyn.  Beginning in 2019, this station will be closed for about a year and a half for Hurricane Sandy repairs.  Only one train line — the L — stops at this station, but it’s used by many commuters who will have to look for less convenient alternatives.  A link to a New York Times article appears above the dog pic.
